Organise a Conference

ASAB conferences are organised by the society's members, and we are always looking for hosts for future meetings. Conferences do take time to organise, but they are hugely rewarding and allow you to choose the theme and the content of a two or three day meeting.

Our three annual meetings

Spring Meeting

The student spring meeting is always a fun one, and combines a one-day postgraduate training workshop with a two-day student conference. The meeting is held in late March/early April.

Want to host a spring meeting? Here are the guidelines.

Summer Meeting

ASAB organises its own summer meeting in odd-numbered years, and a joint meeting with other European behavioural societies (the European Conference on Behavioural Biology, ECBB) in even-numbered years. The ASAB summer meeting is usually held in the UK, and the ECBB meeting in continental Europe.

Want to host a summer meeting? Here are the guidelines.

Want to host an ECBB meeting? Here are the guidelines.

Winter Meeting

The winter meeting is held in Edinburgh on the first Thursday and Friday in December, and is relatively easy to organise since there is no conference fee and delegates find their own accommodation in Edinburgh.

Want to host a winter meeting? Here are the guidelines.

organising a meeting

If you are interested in organising a future meeting, please send a one-page application to the Secretary. There's more information on what to include in your application in the guidelines documents (see above).

If you have any questions regarding your application, please do contact the Secretary. Applications will be considered at the Winter Council Meeting in December, and applicants will be informed whether they have been successful by the end of the year.

Interdisciplinary Workshop Grants

ASAB also supports an annual Interdisciplinary Workshop through our Grants & Awards Committee. If you would like to organise a two day meeting on an interdisciplinary theme of your choice, we encourage you to apply.
